The problem
At BearStudio, parking spots are limited and the office sits on the outskirts of town. People were relying on a Slack channel to coordinate carpools every morning, a chaotic, easily-missed system that nobody loved.
We needed something purpose-built: a simple way to say "I'm driving tomorrow, who wants a ride?" without the noise.
What Cowat does
Cowat is a carpooling app designed around everyday commutes, not one-off trips. Drivers publish their upcoming rides, passengers request a seat, and the app handles the rest: matching, notifications, and scheduling.
The focus is on making it feel human. It's not about optimizing routes or saving milliseconds. It's about connecting people who share the same roads, building trust, and making the daily commute a little less lonely.
My role
I'm the lead developer on Cowat v2, a full ground-up rebuild of the original app. I kept the core features that worked, redesigned the entire UI, and added a layer of UX improvements that the first version was missing.
I continue to ship new features and maintain the project day-to-day.
Multi-tenant & open to others
Cowat is in production and used daily at BearStudio. But it's built as a multi-tenant app from the start. We're open to setting it up for other teams or companies that face the same parking & commute challenges.
